Harald holds a PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an MA in Political Science, European Law, and Religious Science from the Ludwig Maximilian Univsersity Munich (LMU). Harald also studied at the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor (ICPSR), the University of Rome/La Sapienza, the University College Cork (ERASMUS), and the International Max Planck Research School for Demography (IMPRSD). He has taught at the LMU, the University of Rostock, and IMPRSD.
Harald has given keynotes at a range of conferences and institutions, such as the European Forum Alpbach, the Scientific Forum of the German Bundestag, and the European Parliamentary Research Service as well as national ministries and other political bodies. He has been regularly invited to moderate events and roundtables, e.g. for the British Council, and provided media statements for print outlets, radio programmes, and TV formats.
